Happy Memorial Day!!

{via}

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!! The official start to summer- yay! What does everyone have planned? We are celebrating Matt's parents 40th Wedding Anniversary on Friday night and are having a big family get together on Monday. On Saturday and Sunday I am going to make sure I have at least 1 or 2 of these margaritas! I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

Cobbler

Last summer I was looking for a cobbler style dessert to whip up since I had some extra fruit lying around. I found this amazing and easy recipe on The Pioneer Woman and thought I would share it for everyone who has to bring something this weekend to a Memorial Day gathering! This recipe turns out more like a cake than a cobbler (in my opinion) but I have made it 3 or 4 times now and it is ALWAYS a hit!!*side note: I've never used blackberries- i have used strawberries and blueberries and I am pretty sure that you could use whatever is on sale at the grocery store and it would turn out the same!

Blackberry Cobbler

  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1-¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Self-Rising Flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 cups Blackberries (frozen Or Fresh)

Preparation Instructions

Melt butter in a microwavable dish. Pour 1 cup of sugar and flour into a mixing bowl, whisking in milk. Mix well. Then, pour in melted butter and whisk it all well together. Butter a baking dish.

Now rinse and pat dry the blackberries. Pour the batter into the buttered baking dish. Sprinkle blackberries over the top of the batter; distributing evenly. Sprinkle ¼ cup sugar over the top.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until golden and bubbly. If you desire, sprinkle an additional teaspoon of sugar over the cobbler 10 minutes before it’s done.

Monogram Monday

Happy Monday! Last week I was MIA bc I was at the New York Stationery and battling a sinus infection from hell. I thought I would share these SUPER cute enclosures from the new Bella Ink release because they have been on almost every order thus far from this release. Great little in store pick up! I love enclosure cards bc sometimes you just need to write a quick "congrats!" or "happy birthday!" and throw it in with the gift and go. The initial makes it a great and easy personalized gift- and they will retail around $6- who can resist that?!

I saw these cute little travel pouches on one of Swoozies weekly email blasts and I thought they were so cute. These bags are only $6.95 and are great if you want to bring something to everyone on your girls weekend or if you have graduation gifts to buy. Such an upgrade from the clear zip lock bag!

Versatile

Over the weekend we picked up a couple of Nils chairs from Ikea- I thought I would share them! The chairs were only $79 and they will go perfect when our new rug comes in!!

In my next life...

I am going to be a florist!! These pictures are from the arrangement that I did yesterday for this weekends Mothers Day extravaganza at our house (it is just lunch for 6 people so in my mind that is an extravaganza) I bought all the flowers- 20 pink and white tulips, verbena, 1 white hydrangea, and 3 roses- all from Central Market and less than $50. I made it on Thursday bc I am traveling next week for NSS and I wanted to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible!! I hope everyone has a great Mothers Day Weekend!!

Waverly

Waverly is back- and completely revived from the 1994 florals that we all I know Waverly from. I am a bit obsessed with the new look they have- ikats, damasks, trellis, and florals. I think that these pillows from The Lacey Placey on Etsy have a great updated look and a so affordable!! You can find all the new Waverly fabrics at Jo Ann.

Thrilled

My typical mornings start out with pouring myself a cup of coffee and getting online to check emails and read my blog circuit (of the joys of working from home!) Needless to say I was THRILLED this morning when I read on the Dallas Morning News that we are getting a Trader Joes! This is one of the things I miss most about Atlanta and I hope they open it as close to my house as possible. For those of you who aren't familar with TJ it is a small gourmet-like grocery but for a fraction of the price! They always have good deals on flowers and GREAT food to go AND $2 buck chuck (wine!)

Thursday Friday

Happy Monday! We were in Tampa this weekend soaking in some rays and attending a wedding of some dear friends. At an appointment last week one of my favorite customers asked if I had seen the canvas tote by Thursday Friday with the Hermes Berkin Bag printed on it- which I had not. She told me it was the hottest summer bag and I needed one. She was right! I saw the bag 5 times while in Florida!! The bag is on backorder but I put an order for a blue tote this morning! This is a must have for the summer- great Mother Day gift if you can't afford the $10k original Berkin :)
