Wow- the temps dropped 15 degrees in about 30 minutes today here in Dallas and we are looking at 2-3 inches of rain over the next 3 days! One of the only great things about rain is that I get to use my super cute Jonathan Adler umbrella. I love this umbrella and I think it makes a great gift for someone who has everything (who couldn't use another umbrella!) I also think that they are SUPER adorable monogrammed- great way to add that personal touch! They retail for under $30 and are totally worth the investment!

I have not felt well for about 5 days- a crazy case of hives from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic I was taking for my skin... after a trip back to the doctor yesterday I am hoping that start to feel better soon! We have our first wedding shower this weekend- it is a Stock the Bar shower! I can't tell you how excited I am to start to celebrate our wedding with our friends and family! One thing I am excited to receive is champagne glasses- we dont have any and I just love the shape options! Champagne is not a drink I can drink all night (well I can but I do not like the hangover that comes with that....) but I do love having a glass of champagne- I think when you drink champagne you just feel special! Is this weather amazing or what?! I have to say I am not going to complain about 70 and 80 degree days in March- I am sure we will pay for it with the heat this summer! With that being said, One thing that I love to do when the weather warms up is to entertain. There is nothing like having friends over for dinner and being able to dine outside. What better to spruce up your outdoor dining then these great Trays and Plates by Lilly Pulitzer? Add the acrylic wine glasses and some flowers and you have a darling dining set!

This week it really feels like I am getting married- less than 3 months! We had our first wedding present arrive, we have a shower next week, and *drumroll please* I picked up our wedding invitations yesterday! I have to say I am in love. I am going to wait and share them after it is all said and done but in the mean time here is the inspiration that I used to get to the final copy of our invitation! I love the romance of calligraphy and I really felt inspired by many calligraphers in the whole wedding planning process- it really is art! Again, Pinterest was a great source to use to get inspiration and help me "see the big picture".

I am getting married in 95 days (sidenote: I wake up to an email everyday from some site I signed up for early on that tells me how many days until our wedding.... just a little clarification that I am not marking down a calendar :) ) I have for the most part refrained from talking about things relating to the wedding on my blog- A. Because I change my mind pretty regularly and B. Because I don't want to give too much away! and C. Up until this month it has felt so far away! I would say that I should not quit my day job to become a full time wedding planner- it is tough! The reality is, is there are thousands of ways you can have a beautiful wedding. Luckily I have super amazing, creative, talented, genius friends who have helped me get these ideas to hopefully come to light. I also do not know what I would have done without the help of Pinterest. It has provided the inspiration for our Save The Dates, Wedding Invitations and just overall decor. Seriously, it has kept my thoughts organized and I feel like let me see my "big picture." Above are some of the ideas that I have loved seeing on Pinterest! (And here's to hoping the next 95 days aren't too stressful!)

I was in one of my stores yesterday and they were sorting through a huge order they had just received of the best bags by Scout! I have looked at this line a few times but I have to say the patterns are too cute right now! I love a good tote- who doesn't need 100 of them? The storage bins are also adorable and useful- great for playrooms, dorms, closets, poolside etc... With all the patterns there is something for everyone!

I can finally talk about my love for the Spring Lilly Pulitzer gifts! Man- I have been looking at this since Thanksgiving and it really is the best release of patterns yet! One of my favorite items are their market bags- ADORABLE! Great for groceries or gift bags or for the pool! The sailboats is one of my favorite Lilly patterns that I think works for all store- even if you aren't close to the ocean or sailing lakes! Look for these bags in the stores in February!

Have you seen the new Bella Ink release? Ah-mazing! Seriously I think that this is designer Melissa Danaher's best work yet (if that is even possible.) Every time I get a Bella Ink release in my hands I feel like a kid on Christmas morning and I can't wait to see what they have done! I think that the stork is my favorite baby invite of all time and ALL of the bridal invites were simply stunning! If you need to spend some money on stationery or invites I highly recommend you checking it all out- you won't be disappointed!

I have been super busy getting ready for 2012 and I LOVE some new things that are going to premier at market this month. I have a confession that January and February are my 2 least favorite months of the year! I hate cold weather, being pale, and it getting dark so early. Luckily seeing all this spring product come my way I can think spring thoughts and get ready for a busy year! One of the products I love most are these new prints from Sloane Ranger! I think they are fresh and versatile! I think that would be great for college age girls, moms, or a great gym bag! I also think they would make great Bridesmaid bags (wink, wink)! Hi friends! I can't believe it is almost Christmas (and that I haven't blogged in a month!) We have a lot of exciting new lines coming in 2012 and I thought I would share the first of many new posts to come! R. Nichols is one of the cutest stationery and card lines out there. Nick starts every card by cutting out all of the pieces from construction paper and then assembling the cards- and he doesn't miss a detail! I loved seeing the originals and all the detail he puts into the cards! The use of bright colors, cities, dogs, and iconic figures is a sure bet to be hugely popular with customers!

Lulalu is one of the many interesting lines that I saw while at NYIGF last month. Lulalu is redesigned Mayfair Lane brand of clips that so many of you love. I was a little skeptical when I first heard that they were redesigning the clip but then I saw them in person and loved it! Lulalu are great circular clips that have a nonsticky grip that stick to stainless steel fridges! They come in 12 bright solid colors so you can mix and match (awesome for school colors!) They also have some super cute notepads that also have the grip on the back! Look for these in all your stores in the coming months!

If you follow my blog you may remember me talking a while back about the website Rent the Runway. Last weekend I had my first opportunity to use the website and I have to say it was awesome! We were going to a black tie wedding in Austin, TX and I had worn everything in my closet on more than one occasion so I thought I would give it a whirl- I loved it!!! I wore an emerald green floor length Bagley Mischka $600 gown and I only spent $50 on it (I had a $50 gift certificate to the site). They delivered the gown to my hotel in Austin and they sent an additional size (which is what I ended up wearing!) After the wedding I just stuck the dresses in a USPS prepaid envelope and off the dress went!! It was seamless and I would totally use them again!!

I thought I would give a more official post on Sloane Ranger now that the larger pieces are hitting the stores! Sloane Ranger has the cutest patterns in the most practical shapes! I love The duffle, The tote, and the crossbody bag! What I think is so great about Sloane Ranger is that it really knows no age- I think that the tote is great for mom's on the go as well as college kids and even down to a very cute preschooler bag! In honor of kids going back to school today I thought I would post some very cute back-to-school items that are all must haves from Garnet Hill. I am a big fan of using kids initials on their school bags and lunchboxes- they are much tougher to get confused and/or stolen when you know exactly who it belongs too! Be careful when using their full name on any items that they carry regularly since it makes them a target for stranger danger (and I don't even have children!!) I spent a lovely (rainy) weekend in NYC for NYIGF and I fell in love with- Macrons. We went on a food eating mission on Saturday night in the Lower East Side when we made our 3rd stop (I believe we made 6 food stops that night) of the night at Bisous Ciao and sampled 6 different- all amazing. Lemon was hands down my favorite but Raspberry was a close second. Now that I know about these little amazing treats I have to find an awesome place in Dallas- any suggestions for a wonderful french bakery?

Our top line in the showroom this market was Lifeguard Press- not surprising since it has been SO SO SO hot this spring! It is a must have for all stores. And if you think Lilly Pulitzer is only for spring and summer- think again! Everyone was buying deep into it for fall too! The Jonathan Adler release was, in my opinion, the BEST release yet! Awesome new patterns- I can't wait to get my hands on the purple flame stitch iphone cover and matching earbuds!! Also, debuting new from Lifeguard Press, Dylan's Candy Bar Stationery and Gift! It is as cute and fun as you can expect from the popular Queen of Candy and brings in a great new price point and appeals to a completely different age group! Just got word from they vet that she has never seen a dog with hypothyroid this bad! Hooray (strange that this is good news!) So Mabry will be on thyroid medicine for the rest of his life but the vet said this will not effect the length of his life. We are not totally in the clear yet on the kidneys- they will be re checked in 2 months once the thyroid meds have had enough time to get stable. Thanks for thinking about us today!

Sick Pup

My puppy dog is a sick man! I received a call from the vet today with the results of some blood work from last week and she thinks he may be in the beginning stages of Kidney failure. His thyroid is also extremely low and they are running more tests on that tomorrow. Please keep us in your thoughts and pray that it is just a hypothyroid and not kidney failure.

I just read on people.com that Jack White and Karen Elson are getting divorced after being married for 6 years- and they are celebrating! They are throwing a party in Nashville tonight to celebrate 6 years of memories and their up coming divorce. I think it is extremely strange but I am so intrigued. They have 2 children together and I applaud them in staying committed to a friendship but I don't think a divorce is worth celebrating- it should be mourned. I guess all I can say is that at least the invitation is cute!

Last summer I was looking for a cobbler style dessert to whip up since I had some extra fruit lying around. I found this amazing and easy recipe on The Pioneer Woman and thought I would share it for everyone who has to bring something this weekend to a Memorial Day gathering! This recipe turns out more like a cake than a cobbler (in my opinion) but I have made it 3 or 4 times now and it is ALWAYS a hit!!*side note: I've never used blackberries- i have used strawberries and blueberries and I am pretty sure that you could use whatever is on sale at the grocery store and it would turn out the same!

Blackberry Cobbler

1 stick Butter
1-¼ cup Sugar
1 cup Self-Rising Flour
1 cup Milk
2 cups Blackberries (frozen Or Fresh)

Preparation Instructions

Melt butter in a microwavable dish. Pour 1 cup of sugar and flour into a mixing bowl, whisking in milk. Mix well. Then, pour in melted butter and whisk it all well together. Butter a baking dish.

Now rinse and pat dry the blackberries. Pour the batter into the buttered baking dish. Sprinkle blackberries over the top of the batter; distributing evenly. Sprinkle ¼ cup sugar over the top.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until golden and bubbly. If you desire, sprinkle an additional teaspoon of sugar over the cobbler 10 minutes before it’s done.

Happy Monday! Last week I was MIA bc I was at the New York Stationery and battling a sinus infection from hell. I am going to be a florist!! Needless to say I was THRILLED this morning when I read on the Dallas Morning News that we are getting a Trader Joes! This is one of the things I miss most about Atlanta and I hope they open it as close to my house as possible. For those of you who aren't familar with TJ it is a small gourmet-like grocery but for a fraction of the price! They always have good deals on flowers and GREAT food to go AND $2 buck chuck (wine!)

Happy Monday! We were in Tampa this weekend soaking in some rays and attending a wedding of some dear friends. At an appointment last week one of my favorite customers asked if I had seen the canvas tote by Thursday Friday with the Hermes Berkin Bag printed on it- which I had not. She told me it was the hottest summer bag and I needed one. She was right! I saw the bag 5 times while in Florida!! The bag is on backorder but I put an order for a blue tote this morning! This wall has been in my mind for a few years after seeing in in countless magazine articles and home decor catalogs. I love the look of a gallery style hanging- it took all the "things" I have been "collecting" (or one could say buying randomly bc I am impulsive) and after all little designer friend help (thank you Ellet!) it was hung to make it seem like all the elements were meant and bought to be hung in a group. When I see this wall I notice a few things about myself-

A. I am consistent with color- I like Black.

B. I am drawn to both florals and abstracts which, when done with a great eye, can be combined to make a very gender balanced look

C. Man I have great taste (ha ha!- jk I just didnt have a C and I thought leaving it A & B would be strange...)

I also love this gallery style hanging because it takes neutral color walls and brings life to them- great for anyone who is a renter!

I'm baaack. Made it through the move- we have Internet- things are starting to be hung on the walls- life has resumed back to normal (almost.) Over the weekend I bought a cute new rubber stamp for my new house! I have bought several stamps from Fountain Maury previous but they aren't open for business at the moment so I turned to Etsy to see what I could find. There were so so many cute stamps to choose from that it was tough to pick! I chose the one on the top, from the ForYoo shop, because I loved the font- honestly I could have bought 5. Return address stamps make for GREAT gifts- teachers, moms, girlfriends, house warming- really just about any occasion!

WOW- talk about an insane 2 weeks- got engaged, had to move, had to find a place to move to, had to pack up our little house and purge a ton of work samples and old paperwork, Dan came to work with me on Wednesday, Mini show started Thursday, Movers came on Saturday, unpacked as much as I could last night, Matt is clearing out everything that is left today, I'm going in tomorrow to do a deep clean of the old place.... as you can see my life has been on overdrive- which is awesome but also incredibly overwhelming. As most of you probably already know I got engaged last weekend!! I couldn't be happier- it was amazing and I feel so incredibly lucky to get Matt for the rest of my life! The whole weekend in Las Vegas was perfect and now will always hold a special place in my heart! I would be lying if I said I was completely caught off guard but I was shocked by how much Matt had planned for us- Dinners, shows, the spa- I have never felt so pampered in my life!

Good Morning Monday! Over the weekend they released the Royal Invite for Kate & Will's wedding. Does anyone else think it was a little under whelming?! Not to mention they were mailed in a Manila envelope... I get it- it is sent officially by the state but with all that is out there at their disposal and they can't up the ante a little bit? Their font choice probably bothers me the most because it looks like Italicized Times Roman... which is what I type this blog in. Seems like there should be a unique royal font that they only use on Royal Invitations (that is a great idea btw!) Does anyone else agree with me that there was nothing that special about the invite?

PS- After doing a little googling to find this image- I ran across Prince Charles and Princess Diana's invite and it looked exactly the same....

Last week I saw these on Anthropologie- along with about 1,000 other things i want- and I have to say that I am strangely attracted to them. I think that it is the bright colors that initially catch my eye but then I also love the kilim used to cover the chairs. Ah, Rifle Paper Co. how I love thee. This line makes me smile because the look is so unique to them. I love the hand painted look that has a little vintage flare. Rifle Paper Co. does custom stationery, wedding invites, and even prints (i love the hat collection!) When I was looking at the site over the weekend (and swooning) I fell in love with these monogrammed notes. How sweet the initials become with the floral wreath. I love Rifle Paper Co. because I think it could be your hip letterpress customer but also could be loved by your classic Crane customer as well. Happy Valentines! I am actually a big fan of Valentines because it is a little reason to celebrate something in the cold and dreary month of February. I think Valentines is a time to do something sweet for the ones your love. Don't get me wrong, if you bought your sweetie a piece of jewelry or a great handbag it will be very appreciated *hint, hint, wink, wink* but I don't think you have to buy anything to let someone special know how much you love and appreciate them! Last night I made Matt a meal just for him- homemade fried mozzarella, Chicken Parmigiana, and his favorite (and requested) Snickerdoodle cake. It was fun to make things that I knew he was going to love and I know that he enjoyed every last calorie! I hope everyone has a lovely Valentines!

It's official. I'm over the ice, snow, and anything that has "winter weather" attached! I had a great day on Tuesday out in East Texas meeting with several of my favorite stores and selling some great lines! Wednesday morning- not so much. Bad weather wasn't going to keep me from seeing a new store... but spinning out on a patch of ice was! Not my smartest move... waiting now on the tow truck to come pick up the Honda! Next week has to be better....

I have been on the quest for new stationery now for several months- yes believe it or not I can't make up my mind. I love stationery, and don't get me wrong I have plenty, but I lack a hip piece of personal paper in my life these days. I am still mildly obsessed with Mr. Boddingtons Studio (see post here and here) and I am thinking that these notes are exactly what i need- feminine, sophisticated and hip but not stuffy and boring and predictable. I love how feminine the font is and the return address makes the envelope exciting when it come is the mail- so different! I'm betting they cost a pretty little penny (or more than I can rationally spend on paper) but if I don't see something else soon I may just have to make justify it!

Dallas got a nice Arctic blast last night that has shut the city down- which means appointments rescheduled for me and a nice afternoon at home catching up on this seasons of the Kardashians (don't judge me!!) Matt and I are drawing straws to see who is going to have to walk the dog with a windshield in the single digits and 25mph winds... Hopefully it isn't me :)

Happy New Year! Sorry about the lack of posts! I am still in recovery mode from the stomach bug that started on Tuesday (12-28) and that I still have not 100% recovered from- so not the best way to start 2011 but I am hopefully for a new year! 2010 was a fantastic year for me and my career. I grew my business to more than double what it was before and made more great connections. My New Years resolution for 2011 is to take everything in my life up a notch. I want to be better at everything that I am currently involved in (professionally and personally). I want to be a better rep, a better leader, a better friend, a better girlfriend, a better sister, a better aunt, and just a better person. I know that is a goal is one that can not be completely acheived bc there is always room to grow but I think that if I just start to make an effort to be present and give my best that I will be happier with the end results. I hope that everyone has a happy and healthy 2011!

{A sneak preview to a new invite from Bella Ink for Spring 2011 release}

Wow, what a busy last 3 weeks! I love the Holidays because they are so busy but I would lie if I said that it wasn't a little stressful... Last week I spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Atlanta at the daniel*richards showroom for 3 days of meeting with Manufacturers. All-in-All it was an awesome time- I love these meetings because it is your time see new releases (my favorite part!), give feedback, and make requests for new product. I have to say I can't wait to get my hands on these new releases- especially the paper imprintable lines! Bella Ink, San Lori, and Paper Belle ALL knocked it out of the park! We have 2 new jewelry lines coming to DR as well- HeartGems which is sweet and sentimental and Reverly Jewelry which is a fashion jewelry line from the girls at a little company called Inviting Company (you may have heard of them :) ) I also was a huge fan of the new Sport Collection from Cinda B- if you play tennis or do yoga you will want one of these bags!

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can give everyone a sneak peak of new product before you see them at market! Get ready for 2011- it is going to be a great year!!!

The Life of Mabry, Part I

Don't feel bad for this dog. The day in 2003 that I picked him up, out of the back of an early 1980s pick-up truck, he hit the doggy jackpot. You see he was the only puppy not being held so me, being the responsible 20 year old that I was, thought it was only right that I hold him... 3 minutes later I told the nice farmer that I would take him (I'm really not sure if the guy was a farmer but it makes the story nicer since we were at a Walmart) and off we were... yes it only took me 3 minutes to make a decision that would change my life, and pocket book, significantly in the years to come (some of you may see that as a weakness but trust me it is my greatest strength). For those of you out there saying, "Something is terribly wrong with the proportion of body to leg height on that animal" stop judging my animal- he is loving and kind and everything a girl could hope for in a mutt... Mabry is a Lab Bassethound Mix (a Bassador if you will) and he got his height from his Dad- the Basset. This could be the best accidentally bred dog of all time. He is incredibly good looking (i may be a little biased) and tempered like a lab but has the energy of a Basset (read: incredibly lazy and sleeps all the time) When we are out with Mabry we always get stopped and asked the same two questions: "Is that a European bread?" "Is your dog a puppy?" When we explain he is a Basset mixed we always get a puzzled look like "how the heck did the manage that?!" I'm not really sure myself.

Mabry has been treated like a king, now I am not saying that was the right way to raise a dog, but none the less he has never had a tough day in his life...except yesterday when I thought it would be fun to try to get a picture of him covered in Christmas lights. To say he was not amused would be an understatement. Like any good owner, I only humiliated him until I took 130 pictures to try to get a good one. Note to self: Photographing a lazy dog is not easy. They don't like to stand for long. All-in-all Mabry was a good sport. I told him 100,000 times that he was the best looking dog on the planet...shocking that didn't help his spirits!

I love colored Christmas lights

There- I said it. Man do I feel better. This came up last weekend during a family dinner at Matt's parents house and everyone seemed shocked that I love colored Christmas lights. Don't get me wrong, white lights are beautiful but there is something about a house covered in colored lights that makes me feel excited. I also am a huge fan of the red and white "peppermint" lights- which will be going up on our little balcony this weekend as our only outside decor since we live in an apartment. If you are so bold to use the big fat old timey colored lights you earn even more points in my book! I think that those are by far the best lights out there! I hope that everyone has a great weekend decorating!

I will say that it doesn't take much to qualify for this- I love to cook but baking isn't my strong point. I found this pumpkin chessecake recipe on Tasty Kitchen and gave it a test run yesterday just to double check that I could manage it for Thanksgiving. It is. by far. the best. cheesecake ever. Sur la Table vs. Williams-Sonoma

If you read this blog then you have probably caught on that I enjoy cooking. I look forward to getting the Williams-Sonoma catalog every month so I can look at all the things that I don't have and need. Over the past year or so I have noticed that there is just less and less from WS that I need or want. I have also noticed that there is no longer "affordable" luxuries. Somewhere along the way I feel like WS has become too much about "the best" and less about what the customer is looking to spend. About 2 miles from my house there is a Sur La Table. At first, I felt over whelmed because they carry about 4 times as much than Williams Sonoma. Last week during partners card I stumbled in there because they were listed and took my time to just walk through. I am now a fan. Sur La Table basically has everything WS has it just has so much more and the prices are way better. For instance the cow creamer, adorable- yes?! WS- $28 SLT- $3.50 Now I'm sure the WS cow is french but really how often are you going to use that cow? Exactly. If you have a Sur La Table in your area and you need to kill some time- give them a chance! I think you'll see what I'm talking about!

If you live in Dallas you know that starting on Friday it is Partners Card Week! (woohoo!!!) This morning I was researching some stores that I know we will want to go into to do our Christmas Shopping with a discount. I am very impressed with the new direction that Restoration Hardware has taken- the silver sage look was VERY played out and their new look has brought them into 2010. I especially loved these leather accessories that they are offering for Christmas- hello man gift! I love the ipad case- for the most part I have only seen the generic black ones offered for men. I also love the kindle case for the same reason! Even better, these gifts are all reasonably priced! I'll let you know what else I find with my Partner's Card this weekend!

If you aren't familiar with Patch NYC, become familiar. I first saw this line in January with Dan at NYIGF and it was love at first sight. To say it stands out would be the understatement of the century. The ornigal art work by co-founder, Don Carney, is bold without being obnoxious. I love the creativity and whimsey of the use of bugs, animals, skulls and pipes. The fact that it is also on candles, plates, and that they did a line in the spring for West Elm makes it that much better! Check this line out!

Ok, I am reading the headline this morning from CNN.com and I see this headline "Queen Elizabeth cancels palace Christmas Party" The articles says that due to tough economic times they are canceling the party at the palace... news flash: THAT IS NOT HELPING THINGS. First off the Queen has more money than she knows what to do with and she spent her own money on that party- not the tax payers. The article says that the party costs approximately $80,000 and 600 people attend. That party creates jobs for florists, caterers, stationers, maids, valet, etc... Does she think that she is going to offend people by spending her money? I get it- it is a sensitive issue- but not spending money does not help our economy it hurts it. A lot of people out there depend on Holiday Business and having Holiday gatherings are important because it brings people together- in good times and in bad! Ok, that is my ONLY Christmas rant you will hear from me. I have plead my case.

I first heard about the neighborhood practice of "Booing" a couple of years ago when I worked at Paper Affair and apparently this fun neighborhood activity is catching on! This morning when I was drinking my coffee and reading my blog circuit I came across these tasty treats on Baked Perfection and I thoughts what a wonderful thing to make for someone's basket if you are a part of a neighborhood boo group. Chocolate covers pretzels are pretty easy for any level of baker and they are an inexpensive treat if you need to make lots! Risa, of Baked Perfection, did them in the cute candy corn colors, put them in a cello bag, and tied it off with festive ribbon! I think if you put these in a Halloween Macbeth Bucket with a Razzle Dazzle chocolate bar with some Vampire Wine you will be set and get the best boo'd bucket on the street! Happy Booing!
